In collaboration with War Remembrance Preservation Foundation.
We guide our creative talents towards a bright future. In doing so, we find it important to collaborate with society on meaningful projects. One of the collaborations we are proud of is with the Foundation for the Preservation of War Memories. Students from the Media and Events Management programme captured special memories of the war on video. We talk to students Noor and Cas and client Mats Rots.
Beautiful assignment with an intense theme
Student Noor says: “It was a tough but beautiful assignment to work on. I have always found the subject interesting and moving. I think it’s great that the War Memories Foundation preserves these stories and passes them on. Cas adds: “Ever since I was young, I have been watching documentaries about war stories. It’s an interesting topic that should never be forgotten. For me, this project was extra personal because the story was about my grandfather. I never knew him myself, but through this I got to know him. It was special to work on this, because all the emotions came in extra.”
Working for a client
From the programme, students learn everything around media production. This was well covered in this project. Noor explains: “We went through Mats’ question carefully. Then we came up with a concept and made a script and planning around the interviews. Cas and I worked well together: we were both motivated to do this assignment, with this important theme, as well as possible. Cas says: “For a real client, you feel you have to do an extra good job. I also really learned how important planning and coordination is in media productions: from reserving video equipment, scheduling and pre-arranging interviews to reserving video locations.” Noor adds: “And that you have to take the time to listen to someone’s story. But on the other hand, also make sure the story is told as well and clearly as possible for the viewer.”
“We are very proud of our final result for the foundation. Thanks to Mats’ edit, the video has become even more beautiful.”

Important that stories continue to be shared
Principal Mats Rots, a volunteer at the War Remembrance Preservation Foundation, is happy to have audiovisual footage for the foundation; “It is so important that we can show the current generation what it was like and that stories and memories continue to be shared. Nice to experience how students deal with this theme. Good, different stories, each with a different angle, have emerged. The cooperation with SintLucas went well. Of course, there are always points for improvement for a next collaboration. Now, for instance, we did the editing of all the videos ourselves, which is a time-consuming job. Next time, we can look for cooperation with another study programme within SintLucas. As far as we are concerned, there will definitely be a sequel.”
