Be yourself! With this message, our talents from Stage and Event Technology put the Vestedatoren in coloured light. They came up with Rainbow for a reason. Rainbow flags show our diversity in gender, race and all the other ways we differ. And as students themselves say: ‘Because at SintLucas you can be yourself!’

The project won the GLOW Talent Audience Award 2022. Grateful to see the public embrace the message behind Rainbow and special that we received the most votes.

Students on the road

Our creative talents did not accept the award themselves. A stage and event engineer works on weekends… So even at their own shining moment, they are putting others in the spotlight for our collaborative partners.

Comment on show

Students talk about their idea: “The show starts on both sides of the Vesteda with a rainbow. The shows are different, but the theme of the rainbow remains the same. That is what connects each other. Although the two sides take a different path, we make it clear through this that everyone is equal despite the differences.

The story on the side of Coöperatie DELA is about the choices you make.
You are the focal point. The choices you make are important steps in your life. They make you who you are. Sometimes it is difficult to know which choices are the right ones. Do what you feel comfortable with and let go of the opinions and influence of others.

The story on the city side is about being together and accepting differences.
Help each other to be ourselves. Support others and help where necessary: it doesn’t matter who you are. How you feel is a self-assurance that comes from knowing you are part of a bigger picture. We all walk our own path that feels right for us and we may choose a different turn from others. The end point is the same. Namely, the place where you feel happy and can – dare and may – be yourself. That’s what SintLucas stands for!”

Technical challenges

This was also an interesting project technically. Guest lecturer Jasper van der Wey: “In the tower, no connection is possible between the flats. We therefore radiate from outside with wireless DMX signal via a directional transmitter. Given the long distance you bridge, we also use a signal amplifier. In each flat, there is a lamp that contains a wireless DMX receiver.”

Strong together

We are grateful for the cooperation with Glow Eindhoven. Thanks to the opportunities we get to contribute to these special projects, our creative talents can grow in their craft. In addition, a thank you to other parties who made this project possible:
