'AI: the creative (r)evolution in education'
The world of generative AI is unleashing an unprecedented revolution that is affecting society as a whole and education professionals in creative professional training in particular.
In this context, the Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam and SintLucas are joining forces on 9 November 2023. Then the two creative vocational schools will jointly organise a study day for all their staff with the theme: ‘AI: the creative (r)evolution in education.’
Where are the opportunities for generative AI in the creative industries? What opportunities are there for improving the quality of education? What risks do the developments bring and what do schools need to discuss? What exactly does generative AI mean for the creative professions? During the AI conference, education professionals from the GLR and SintLucas will get answers to these, and many more, questions. The main aim of the day is to create a common ground for understanding the impact of AI on various facets of media and maker education at the two schools.
Keynote & workshops
The conference will start with a keynote by Dr Maarten Lamers, lecturer at Leiden University, on whether AI can be creative, and its impact on the creative industries. Lamers researches artificial intelligence, robots, biological-digital hybrid systems and creativity in research. Some 70 workshops will then take place, as well as panel discussions, live podcasts and documentary screenings. Think topics such as: Storytelling with AI imagery; AI and ethics; Working smarter using ChatGPT; and Teaching responsibly with AI.

The Creative Connection
Under the banner The Creative Connection, the GLR and SintLucas are going to collaborate more often in the coming years. Both schools have a lot of ambition and the same mission: to provide high-quality education at the intersection of creativity and technology. The conference on 9 November will mark the kick-off of this collaboration. Want to know more? Contact Erno Mijland.
