Will you create an app that takes the user into a completely new world? Get to know the technology behind games, apps, websites and other interactive media.
In the Software development course we teach you, how to combine technology and creativity. This makes media usable.
Bilingual (English) or Dutch
SintLucas offers the programme in a Dutch and bilingual variant. Your diploma gets an extra value with the mention of the bilingual variant. If the bilingual variant turns out not to be feasible during the programme, you can always fall back on the Dutch variant.
Please note: we will only start the bilingual and/or Dutch variant if enough students choose a variant. After registering, you will be informed whether the variant of your choice will go ahead.

What am I doing?
In the software developer course, you will learn programming for different platforms. You also bring graphic and audiovisual elements to a working whole. You know how to set up a game or (web) application. You dare to experiment and try out new possibilities. During the software development course at SintLucas, you work together with students from various courses who are responsible for the visual elaboration. This is how an idea comes to life.
What am I making?
As a Software developer, you will develop games, apps, web applications, VR and AR, among others.
What am I learning?
During the software development programme, you will develop programming skills and receive software training. You will learn how to develop and program games, web applications and software. In addition, you will learn to work together as you collaborate with fellow developers and designers. General subjects such as Dutch, English and maths are also part of the programme.
Where do I do my internship?
Depending on your interests and learning wishes, you choose an internship. Often this is an agency for web design, multimedia or in the game industry. But an internship at another type of company in the field of software development is also possible. During your internship, you will, among other things, work on programming applications, websites and apps and get to know various programming languages.
Watch a video of Levi’s internship at STA Software here.
What should I be able to do and like?
You are analytical, structured and creative in coming up with solutions. You have a feel for technology and follow developments closely. As a software developer, you work together with other developers, digital and motion designers or (media) designers. You are therefore a real team player.
What can I do after SintLucas?
With your diploma in your pocket, you can work at a web design or multimedia agency, or in the game industry or ICT sector. If you want to continue studying, you will choose a course in ICT, for instance at Fontys Hogeschool in Eindhoven or at Avans Hogeschool in Den Bosch. If you prefer a game-oriented study programme, you can go to the HKU in Utrecht or the Breda University of Applied Sciences.
Former student Jeffery Lanters studied Software development at SintLucas and now runs his own company Hulan in Waalre. Hulan specialises in creating inspiring and effective learning experiences through the use of serious games, gamification, and technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality and AI. How does application and admission work?
You will apply for the programme of your choice via our website from 1 November 2024. After your application, you will receive an invitation for a matching interview at SintLucas. During an interview with a teacher and student from the study programme of your choice, together we will see if you and SintLucas are a match. Above all, we have an open and relaxed conversation, so you can make a good study choice. In preparation for the interview, you can bring (creative) work with you. It is also possible to make an assignment. After the interview, you will receive a study advice. This advice can be positive (we think you fit in with SintLucas and the study programme) or negative (we think another school and study programme would suit you better). Even with a negative recommendation, you are admissible at SintLucas. We trust that you will make a good study choice with our advice. Read more about application and admission here.
If you have a question about this, please send an e-mail to aanmelding@sintlucas.nl.
